Maurice2 has fishy dreams
White spots

Last wednesday added an anemone, a clown and a boxfish. (Quarantine is unheard of here in Switzerland).

Thursday anemone hiding under a rock; let it acclimatise I say to myself.

Saturday afternoon, anemone still under rock, fish a bit skitty, Pomacanthus is scratching on shells and spending lots of time asking the cleaner shrimp for help.

I fish out the anemone, in full decomposition, the smell made even my glass eye water

Tests reveal all 0 except nitrite at 0.3 and PO4 0.25.
Ph 8.2, 27°, SG 1.023

Sunday tank has lost the ghastly smell but the boxfish looks like this:

It doesn't seem to bother him, he swims around happily and eats very well. The butterfly has a tiny tinge of the same whiteness, everyone else is fine.

My tank is 480L, 2 months old, 25Kg of live rock, coral sand, wet-dry sump, a dozen small juvenile fish and 6 inverts.

What are those white spots?

Any suggestions would be most welcome

The white spots are a parasite called marine ick for short. They need to be treated in a QT and main tank left fishless fo 6-8 weeks. Treatment in QT for fish needs to be hypo or copper. search results here for both.
