Ive had my chocolate chip cookie star fish for jst about a month and it has been very active. About 3 days ago I noticed that the cookie just hangs out at the waters surface with its tentacles out of the water, Its starting to ger alot of discoloration (whiteish spots) on its body. I try to feed it by placing food under it but it just climbs up to the surface once more ignoring the food.

Whats happening with the star

I also have a tiny orange star and it seems happy doing laps around 1 rock it hasnt left that rock since I put it close to it, I bought them both at the same time.

Ill post pics as soon as the star comes out from behind the skimmer pump

here are some pics

the star used to be nice and dark now its tentacles are bleaching out

Moving this to the sick fish and coral forum. How about some water test results? Maybe some high nitrates?

mine kinda looks like that took but he runs around my tank all day. when he is on the glass put some krill under him he will love it

water parameters:
Specific Gravity 1.024
PH 8.2
Amonia 0ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 20ppm ( I just did a 5gal water change hopefully it drops)
Temp 82-84 through out the day.

does he need a supplement that I havent provided or is he just plain out sick/dying?
