My favorite fish, the African Knifefish, used to have a pretty tight eating schedule. After feeding the rest of the troop tetra flakes, I would drop in 3 to 4 sinking shrimp pellets and the knife would come out, consume them in seconds, and then go back into hiding.
For the past few weeks, he no longer does this. I drop the pellets in, and he just stays in his cave. I've watched him every night, and there's no change. I've even tried feeding him with the lunar lights on. No luck.
Water parameters are fine – stable pH, no ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates. The knife doesn't appear to be weak or unhealthy. He's just hovering around like he always does. If it weren't for this feeding problem, I'd say he's acting perfectly normal.
Any idea why the knife would suddenly stop eating? I can't figure it out and I'm starting to get worried about the little guy.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
