Algae in aquarium during antibiotic treatment???

Hi. My fish has popeye and a bacterial infection so I am giving him Maradol Maracyn Two. I noticed today that there is string algae growing in the bottom of the tank. Should I change the water during the antibiotic treatment? I can't tell which is more dangerous: leaving algae in the tank or diluting the medicine.

If it's hair algae, you can just wrap your fingers around it and pull it out. I had it once, and did that, and I have never had it again.
I don't think live algae is bad, it more of when it dies off.
