I tested my water a few nights ago and Ammonia was a little high in the tetra tank .25ppm. I did a water change yesterday and this morning all my fish were dead or dieing the only change I found was the ph is high. Could this be the cause. I have a 10 gallon tank that has had tetras in it for about three months.
Water conditions before water change:
Ammonia .25ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 20ppm
ph 7.8
Morning after water change:
Ammonia .25ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 10ppm
ph 8.2
After checking everything else and doing another water change and finding the PH was still 8.2 I checked my tap water and it was also 8.2. Until last night my tap water has always been 7.8 for as long as I have been keeping fish. After finding that my tap water has a high ph right now I did a 1 gallon water change with purified water that had a ph of 6.6 and gave the tank a ph of 8.0 and after that the only one of 8 tetras that didn't look like it was about to die was dieing too.
