Bichir keep dying

So ive gotten 2 different bichir labled dinosour bichir from petsmart. They were healthly and swiming around... well they seemed healthy.. first one died in 2 days this second one died over night.... I just but sand in 3 weeks ago changed all the substrate out... my fis are fine... could i be goin through a mini cycle 3 weeks latter? Am I not cleaning the sand correctly?

Does seem odd to have two go. Would you have water specs for ph, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?

It's possible a mini-cycle has developed but hard to say.
