Big eyes on a dead fish

4 or 5 days ago I picked up 2 angels. Today I found one dead, but its eyes are big and bulging out. I threw it in the freezer to take it back tommorow. Is this normal for a fish's eyes to get big when they die? Or is this popeye?

When you say big, are you referring to the pupils being dialated or the entire eye socket as if mucous discharged into it?

They were popping out, both of them. Bulging out. I was checking the dead fish for signs of ich, etc, and it's eyes were bulged out and big. It didnt look like that when it was alive and neither does the surviving angel. Do angels go bug eyed when they die?

I've never seen any of my deceased angels having bulging eyes but you could be describing popeye which can occur due to fighting injury as well as an infection. How does the other angel look?

The other angel looks fine at this time. To be safe, I am going to assume I picked up a fish with popeye and hope it didnt spread. I will keep a close eye out for any signs.
