Black Molly sick??

Hey Guys!!
Could you all help me out, I have bought 6 of black mollies last week and added salt to my aquarium like i was told to and now they have gotten all spotty, is it because my heater broke and i haven't replaced it yet? Should i add some hot water to heat it up?

Its most likely Ich.

I had one that came from the Petstore with Ich, and it died...

I miss him so much..

If it is ich, you'll have to go buy some Ich/Ick medicine from your local pet store and follow the instructions on the package.

are the mollies your only fish?

if so, don't bother with the ich medicine.

how much salt did you put in?

for mollies, esp the black ones, just add more salt - if you have a hydrometer, you can use it to measure your water, if not pickup one when you get a new heater - the $5 floating kind are good enough for fw fish - slowly add salt until you achieve a SG of about 1.015 ... this should make your mollies much more comfortable.

you can also help them by getting a new heater, and slowly increase temp to about 85° F (about 30 centigrade).

also, make sure it's Kosher or aquarium salt, no table salt please!
