Black Moor with laceration on eye

Hi there,
I was cleaning my 45 gal goldfish tank in which I have one black moor and a ryukin. I use a python to clean my tank and I have a net on the end of the vacuum to prevent fish getting sucked in. Well apparently when I had my back turned the net came partially off and my black moor was completely sucked in. I reversed the pressure and he came out but now he has a laceration on his eye. I got some aquarium salt and melafix and plan on doing frquent water changes but I'd like to hear any other advice on what I should do. I'd also appreciate any insights on his prognosis, I've basically been bawling my eyes out since it happened which was yesterday. Thanks so much. EDIT: He is acting completely normal, swimming and eating as usual.

Ouch, how is your fish doing now? It sounds like you are doing everything possible. I've had fish with an eye lost and they will still get around fine but fingers crossed on yours.

Today is day 5 since the injury occurred and I think my fish Duncan is doing better, the wound looks smaller and less swollen. He is still acting completely normal like nothing ever happened, hopefully he's not in too much pain. I've just been continuing to keep clean water and dose with Melafix. I'll attach a picture of how he looks today.

Does look better - looks shorter on the ends of the wound? And handling the melafix ok out of interest?

He's been handling the Melafix very well, acting completely normal and I think it's been helping, the wound looks much much better since a week ago when it first happened. I do wonder how his eye sight is though now since the lense has been pushed back, any thoughts?

All sounds good. Does he seem to be using the eye ok? I had an angelfish with one eye and he used to have a funny swimming pattern to use his good eye the best but was otherwise normal and ate well.

Unfortunately Duncan passed away a few weeks ago. His eye looked totally healed and he was acting completely normal and then suddenly overnight he took a turn for the worse and seemed like an entirely different fish the next morning. Scales were bronze instead of black and his fins were wispy and his body was bent. He died shortly after. I have never seen such a sudden change, I miss him very much
