I did a serach and didn't find a topic on this; sorry if it's a repeat.

My tank just recovered from a bout of ich; now I want to do a major cleaning-out water change. Will my gravel suction tube possibly reinfect my tank with ich if I use it? If so, is there some way I should be "disinfecting" it?

I've left it outside for over a week in the sun to dry out.

Thanks for any advice!

This question had come up recently. When using any type of hoses for cleaning, the hoses and cylinders should be thoroughly rinsed with absolutely hot water for a few minutes. This will dislodge and kill any floating ich nasties within.

if youre a freak about disinfecting like me...you could try a 10% bleach solution(1part bleach 9parts water) and put the stuff in for 10 minutes and then rinse rinse rinse....and then rinse again...

I just keep my temperature up around 28dC and i never have trouble.
only time i had ich was when the heater busted and the temp bottomed out at 23dC

I have never had the Ich problem...and i have clownloaches which are prone!!!
Im probably quite lucky! I keep my tank at 26degreesC
