Comet goldfish

We have comet goldfish about 2yrs old, and have noticed one of them has developed 2 small red lumps, one on each side of his body just in front of the tail. In the centre of one is what looks like a small white spike. Any ideas what this is and how to treat it? We have already put some general tonic in the water. I have attached 2 photos but they're not very clear, our fish don't like posing 4 photos!

What size tank are you keeping him in? How are your water parameters (amm/nitrite/nitrate)? Are there other fish with him? What type and are any of them new? How often do you pwcs? More information will help us to figure out whats going on!
 
It looks like an anchor worm, hard to tell from the pic though.

Agree, we need all that info.
