No tank changes
The neons belly turned white and it looked swollen but just swam in one place but occasionally it would swim with the group

Probably a fungal infection from laying on the bottom of 5 year old substrate would be my guess.... meh

Decaying waste in substrate leads to most fungus, as does high nitrates. Idk about tetras my guppies sleep on the bottom. I guess guppies are one of the few fish that actually sleep.

As much as I change my mind and we move, they get taken down and changed moved or cleaned about once a year. A tank is not an open ecosystem like nature, it still has to be cleaned no matter if there is good bacteria and bio load or not. Nature has ways and creatures that do that for her, (like detris worms) while Our Tanks no matter how much we vacum or Do PWC, After 5 years that Stuff Is gonna be nasty and cause methane and nitrate poisining.
