I have had limited sucess with malachite when treating fungus. It seems to work at first, but then it dosen't work a secont time. Salt is another iffy, some people swear by it for bacteria salt and parasites (farms sometimes raise guppy and other livebearer that can take salt in brackish conditions to "ward off" parasites and microbes) but others claim it does nothing except improve gill function and slime coat and add minerals. JLK is right on, fungus cure nitrofurazone + furazolidone is labeled "fungus cure" but according to JLK, and i believe him, its a antibiotic with limited Sap. mold effectiveness. I think maroxy is a good all around product. I just talked to the fish Manager at petco, and he seemed to know his stuff, he even told me he use to use maroxy, but now their not suppose to use anything chemical at his petco store anymore, but he keeps Clout hidden from them to deal with ick, and he adds Primifix and melafix to the water too to keep saporengelia or however you spell it at bay. Its really confusing to me, let alone a new hobbyist, especially when their mis labeled and claim to cure things that is often not sucessful when the hobbyist uses them. When i had this problem in my new tank one time i think i honestly said "f it im using methylene"and used it at a low dose after the furan + furazolidone failed to clear up the tank. Sorry im off topic, Confusing stuff sometimes.
