Hello!

My friend has a 75 gallon aquarium with 7 goldfish. I don't have the parameters or anything, just because she doesn't keep track. A few days ago her tank came down with ich, and we are currently treating the tank. One fish however is separated because she is extremely sick, and I'm not sure entirely what's going on. I don't keep goldfish but she asked me to see if I can find help, so here I am.

This fish progressed like this after around 3 days. Our local aquarium store recommended Rid Ich + and Stress Coat so that's what they are being treated with. They also have heaters set in the tanks for 85° with extra oxygen being pumped in too, as per the aquarium owners advice.

She's always had swim bladder problems and swims upside down. She gets peas every few days to help it, and she can swim normally when she wants to, she just seems lazy and holds herself upside down instead of normally.

I'm sorry that I don't have all the details, but I just want to know what I should advise them to do, and what might be going on. They're really terrified, and I've never had problems like this so I don't know what to do!

Thank you!!

The circumstances look dire. What are the tank parameters?

Liquid Test kit results asap.

Also asap do a number of pwc, preferably with API Prime water.

Do you know when the last water change was done and how much?

There is a link for an article in my signature which tells of basic important information for fish keeping.

One large issue is the changing of filter pads for the filter of the fish tank. And understanding of the nitrification cycle.

I fear these fish have ammonia burns in addition to the Ich.

Water must be cleaned asap and the Prime has the capacity to assist in binding Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate.

Aeration at maximum amount, is critical when raising the temperature!

Thanks for the reply! I don't have any parameters because it's not my tank, and they dont keep track of them. They are doing around 50% water changes daily. They setup extra air flow for aeration. I'm not sure if the tank was completely cycled, I know they've only had it a few weeks and they upgraded from a smaller tank. I will tell them to get prime to help.

Someone from another website said that the fish pictured could have columnaris, I'm not sure if that's a possibility

Those fish look extremely ill. Though I can't quite say I would think it Columnaris. It is best to take care of the most obvious issues like water quality.
This is the link for the Prime explaining what it does and how to use it.

I agree - get water quality checked out first. It's the easiest to knock off and then you know. Most fish shops will test.
