I'm treating Ich with Marineland Ick Remedy in a 20 gal tank. Instructions say to remove carbon filter, so I removed the Carbon filter cartridge and the sponge.

Should I have left the sponge in?

Also, should the filter be removed the whole time during treatment? As in the whole 4-6 days?

You can put back the sponge and if you can cut the side of the filter pad and shake out the carbon then you can put it back too. I am not positive if that kind of medication will kill off your bebeficial bacteria, but you would lose the BB anyway if you let the sponge and filter pad dry out. They will be possibly be infected as well as that is a filters purpose to catch things.

Is it in a cycled tank?

Yes the tank is cycled.
So it's already been 2 days the sponge and filter has been out. Would you recommend putting the sponge back in? Or going get a new sponge? The filter can be replaced as it comes with a couple of them.
