Ok. I just had a bout with my first fish disease and I was totally unprepared. I would like to put together some of the common (freshwater) meds/treatments to have on hand just in case. This way if the LFS is closed or doesn't have what I need, I don't have to stress. What kind of meds should I get? Is there any particular brand or type that worked well for you that you would recommend? Thanks :)

I love kanamycin based meds for internal bacterial problems.
~Melafix
~Aquarium salt

Hmmm, I know I have other things laying around :?

Definitely Melafix. It is wonderful for wounded fish and fish with damaged fins. I bought the pond strength because it lasts a lot longer when you are only adding 1mL per ten gallons instead of a teaspoon (I bought a medicine dropper to dispense it). Pima fix is a relatively new treatment from the same company. It treats fungal infections. These products work great together, don't interact with other meds and don't harm your beneficial bacteria (and I like the smell) :)

My fishy medicine cabinet:

Melafix
PimaFix
Kanacym (kanamycin) or equivalent
Jungle Fungus Clear (nitrofurazone) or equivalent
Aquarium salt
Epsom salt
