Fish with Red Spikes in rear end

I have a female guppy who I have had for probably 3 months. She has always been a little oddly shaped and I noticed she had red spikes sticking out of her bottom after I bought her when I was a newbie. Now another one of my fish has it and she has also become oddly shaped. Any ideas on what it might be. I can easily take pics if they will help.
