German Ram rubbing against heater?

I have a pair of German Rams in a 20 gallon tank. They are both eating normally. The female swims around the tank while the male sits by the heater. The temperature of the tank is 80 F. Could this be a problem with heat or water quality?

Now he is on the ground breathing rapidly. Could this be because i recently introduced a new clown pleco.
