Hey, A few weeks ago added 6 Denisoni barbs to existing tank:
100 gallon, planted
co2 injected
ehiem 1500 filter
temp 78 degrees
ph 6.7 (monitored due to co2 injection)
nitrates never above 10-20 ppm
water changes of 30% every 2 weeks
2 weeks after adding denisoni barbs noticed one had a swollen gill, kept an eye on them and 4 days later noticed another with same condition. Removed fish and took them to LFS. They suggested aquarium salt in quarantine, went home and placed fish in 5 gallon tank with salted water and HOB filter. have been doing 25% changes with recommended salt levels every 2-3 days. Fish are well coloured and are eating fine, they seem to be healthy other than swollen gill and I have noticed no changes since placing them in salted quarantine.
Any thoughts or recommendations?? I really don't want to place them back in DT if condition is contagious, and as one developed condition a few days after I noticed the first I think it might be. I also don't want to just start medicating without some clue as to what condition is. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
