I have a tetra that has some white growths on it. Can anyone identify what it is and how to treat?

I think it is fungus. One of the larger lumps erupted and there is now cottony looking strings on his side. I put salt in last night. Will have to pick up an anti fungal. Any suggestions for brands?

That sounds like a bacterial pimple. Is there a crater left in the scales where it erupted?
