Hi everyone.

I recently introduced 4 fish into my 10 gallon tank:
2 guppies

2 neon tetra's.

The following day I noticed that 2 tetras and one guppy had tatty or gaps in their tail fins.

I began treating the tank for fin rot but also suspected fin nipping by either the White Cloud Mountain minnows or the dannios already in the tank. The tetra's recovered but the guppy continued to lose parts of its tail fin and finally died two weeks after I got him. I'm now considering whether the wcmm's as I have occasionally seen them nip at the other guppy, although not the tail fin, but not severely.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might have happened? I was a little devastated after losing my 1st fish.

Hi there.

Sorry about misplaced thread.

I'm testing water on a weekly basis. All indicators for nitrite and ammonia were ok. Ph is a at about 8, but that's normal for London. I took the dead fish to the specialist shop I bought it from. They said it looked more nipped than fin rot.
