Hi there,
I've got a little runt of a guppy, Pascal, who has had a droopy tail and is "wiggling" to swim. He has never eaten much, but really hasn't been eating the last couple of days. We've had him for about 6 months.
Tank is about 3 months old and has had regular 25% water changes every 2-3 weeks. 5.5 gallons, all levels (ammonia, pH, nitrates, nitrites are all solid according to the test strips and according to PetsMart testing) and temperature is right around 78-80 degrees.
We started out with 3 male Fancy Guppies and lost one last week without any sign of anything being wrong, so we bought two neon tetras and an algae eater, to keep the remaining two guppies company, and added them to the tank 4-5 days ago. Two days later, Pascal's tail started drooping. I thought it may have been a live plant we added, so we have since taken that out, but the next day, the back half of him turned almost solid black - which I have never seen before. Today his color is back, but his tail is still drooping, he is still wiggling to swim, and it seems he is gulping a bit. I've put him in quarantine in a small, 1 gallon tank along with some melafix.
Any thoughts as to what it may be?
