Help! Platy has gash on side.

I just noticed he has a gash on his side. He is hiding now I think he's hurt. What can I do?

Try a salt dip first. Also try to figure out what caused the injury.

Never heard of a salt dip before, sorry first timer! I have melafix and aquarium salt.

Salt dip is basicly putting the fish in saltwater to fight off parisites or infections.

Can you post a pic? Honestly, unless theres signs of infection or he is being harassed, I would just do some extra water changes to keep the water very healthy. No reason to stress him further with bathes or meds unless its needed. Fish have remarkable healing abilities as long as their water is kept very healthy.
