Help PLEASE with Red Pacu and Oscar tank...

I got a 55 with 2 small Tiger oscars in it. Also housed in it is a foot long Red Bellied Pacu. A kid @ work was getting out of the air force so it was either death for the Pacu or in my 55 Gallon.

The Pacu has not eaten in 3 weeks ! Nothing ! No sticks, shrimp or feeders ! The Oscars are happy. The Pacu has fin rot BAD and the oscars are healthy. I am treating the tank and doing water changes and turned the heat up. I am using Melafix for treatment. I also added some aquarium salt to help with the stress levels.

Any ideas?
I don't want to lose this guy.
If I lose the Pacu I am going to a salt tank ! This freshwater stuff too hard !

I googled the pacu and found this helpful site. Apparently, pacus are herbivores. http://kingsoftheaquarium.tripod.com/redbelliedpacu.htm

I find it odd that the pacu is not listed in either of my new aquarium fish books

Keep on doing what you are doing now XXFirefighter. Thats the best I can say. The Melafix is good stuff, and should do wonders if you follow the directions listed on the back of the bottle.

It also might be getting stressed out from the small space. Give it a few months, and the Oscars will be too big for the tank..then your gonna have to decide between the oscars and the Pacus. That could be a big part of it's problem..especially if you have a standard 55 gallon tank that is hardly a foot wide!!!
