I noticed when I got home today that one of my four danios has a really dark red mouth. It seems to be breathing pretty heavy and is kind of just swimming in one spot. It came up to eat with all the other fish but now its back down where it was swimming.

Does it have an infection? And is it risky to my other fish?

Thanks for the help.

Hi! Can you provide us with some more info so we can better help?

Tank size? Parameters? Stocking? Water change schedule? How long you have had this fish? Is he bloated? Does he have redness anywhere else is his body?

My suggestion would be to qt him first as his symptoms suggest an internal bacterial infection. Do you have access to antibiotics (some countries these are restricted)?

Sure! I have a 75 gallon. It's been up and running for 9 months. I change 15 gallons of the water every week. It's stocked with a blood parrot, dinosaur bichir, 4 danios and 3 gouramis. Its mouth is REALLY blood red/purple and its spreaded just behind its eyes. The eyes are bulging..
