How long to remove filter cartridge?

Hi I need to dose my neon tetras with anti fungus and fin rot, how long should I leave the filter cartridge (Interpet service pack) out of the filter tank area for?

Unless a really new tank and new bacterial population, I leave the filter in (assuming it has no carbon).
