whats the best way to treat fungus on my goldfish? i posted earlier about a white patch near my goldfish's gills and i've decided to treat him for fungus. i have a 10 gallon tank with 2 goldfish in it, my other goldfish doesn't seem to have any fungus. also i have a aqua-tech 5-15 power filter that has a carbon filter cartriage.

thanks alot!

Quick Cure can be used for fungus in goldies - treats both parasites (formalin) & fungus (melachite green).

Before I treat, tho, I would check the water parameters - poor water can show up as white patches, slimy, dull coats, etc. So first thing is to have clean water, then treat for stuff if appropriate.

Melafix, I think, is anti-bacterial rather than antifungal. It is good for Columnaris (which is often called fungus even tho this is a bacterial infection) - which can also give white fuzzy patches.

For salt treatment - read this: http://www.goldfishparadise.com/articles/salt.php

PS don't use salt & quick cure together - goldfish will die!
