Ill or injured gourami?

These marks on my gourami appeared yesterday. He is eating normally but I have a chinese algae eater who I have seen attack the gourami and it seems that the gourami doesn't go down to the bottom of the tank anymore due to the algae eater. Opinions?

Chinese algae eaters have been known to attack fish and "suck" them. Definitely a possiblity here. Personally I'd find a new home for the algae eater.
