Lethargic betta.?

Right now, I'm really excited because my Betta is approaching the 1 year mark. I'm still not sure how old he is though.
Now the thing I'm worried about is the fact that he seems to be swimming around the tank less and less. He usually just cruises around for a bit and then goes and rests in his little cave. He does come out for feeding and is very active when it is feeding hours. Hes also very excited whenever I come to the tank. Otherwise, he just lays down in his cave for hours until it's feeding time.
So is there something wrong here? Or am I just being paranoid. (I get anxious easily)

What kind of Betta. I had one with huge fins and he just got tired of trying to swim.

He's a crown tail. That could possibly be why

I bought mine one of the floating logs and he lived in there 98% of the time. Came out to eat and patrol for a few minutes, then back in the log.
