I noticed that my Betta had a small growth on his side about a week ago, however it has gotten larger since then. Just in case, I made sure to do a water change when I had noticed it. Also, his fins seem to be more torn up with discoloration near the bottom. His behavior hasn’t changed; loves to swim around and has a great appetite. What could this be? :uhoh:

I don't know what the growth is, but your Betta does have fin rot.

The only thing I can think of is a fungal infection.

I do a water change whenever the nitrate level exceeds 10 ppm, which is about every 3 weeks (4 weeks maximum). Otherwise, the ammonia and nitrite levels are 0.

What size tank? Any other fish in the tank? What water test kit do you use? Generally once a week water changes are needed. Your Betta looks like it has significant deterioration of his fins.
