this is my first case of ich. i've tried reading up on some articles about treatment, but still a bit confused.

-I've read some people's comments to raise the temperature in increments of 1 every 12 hours. Can i just do this without using any medication? Or is medication definitely a necessity?

FYI I have a planted tank with the following fish:
2 german blue rams (One of them is the one with the ich)
8 harlequin rasboras
1 oto
1 clown pleco

At the moment, my temperature is at 79 F

Raise the temp 1-2 degrees every 12 hours. No medications required but either lower the water level a bit or add an airstone to increase splash

Stay away from salt with a planted tank, just heat for two weeks. After you reach 86F leave it for two weeks. If the symptoms of ICH get worse dont worry, the temp increase makes their life cycle go faster. Just keep it at 86 for at least two weeks. Works every time for me like a charm, havent lost a fish to ICH yet. HTH!!!
