New Betta, fin rot or fin loss?

]Hello,

I just got my betta, Alpha, a couple of days ago. He has a heater, a filter, silk leaves, and a lotus in his 1.7 gallon tank (saving up for a 3 gallon). His water is perfect if not a little cold (76 degrees), but ammonia and PH levels are perfect.

I know I just got him but he's showing signs of tattered fins. I can't tell if it's fin rot or if he's snagging his fins on something. I'm using Bettafix and Stress Coat on him just in case. Please help.

He kinda gets these bursts of energy then hangs out at the bottom or top of his tank for a while. When he sees me he comes up to the glass, but when I try to feed him he darts to the bottom of the tank

I think looks ok, if a little tattered. Watch out not to overdose the bettafix.


If you can, a 5 gallon will be much better. I have mine in a 5 gallon and more room definitely.
