Brought home a dwarf gourami today. Didn't notice this until added him to the tank and he stopped hiding.

Is this ich? About 3 or 4 spots on each side.

He was in the tank for about an hour before we noticed and quarantined him.

If it is ich, what treatment is recommended?

It looks like beginning stages of ich. Slowly raise the temp to 86 degrees. Change out 25% of your tank water daily including a gravel/substrate vacuum. Add aquarium salt at 1 TEAspoon per 5 gallons of water. After a few days up the dose to 2 TEAspoons per 5 gallons. You can go as much as 1 TEAspoon per gallon of water.

If you have airstones turn them up. The higher the heat the less oxygen in the water.

Thanks for the quick response. Any treatment products recommended such as Paraguard etc?

Also can the gourami handle 86°?

If you want to use meds Ive heard that Kordon Rid Ich Plus has worked well. Also heard paragaurd is good too. Personally, if I can catch it early like you have I use the heat and salt method and avoid medicating my tank.
