What is the best way to lower nitrate levels in my tank?

Just do water changes about every week depending on what the water change does to your parameters. Plants also bring down nitrates.

Same advice- plants help reduce nitrates but its all about the water changes!!! Its the only way you really can remove them from your aquarium.

All great advice also having an under-stocked tank make them build up slower.

In addition to keeping the stocking level low and 50% partial water changes, consider adding some low light, low maintenance plants...more plants = lower nitrates!
