Normal for Pleco?

Are these discolorations normal for a pleco? Looks almost like dry skin. Have had him for about a month and he has grown so I'm assuming he eats ok plus he poops like a machine.

Yep, it's pretty normal, as far as I've been told we still don't know what it is, but most plecos get it

Let me offer a possibility - in pet shops common plecos tend to get that washed out look when in a tank with a light substrate...

Actual real veggies? How big of a piece? Does it sit in tank for awhile or do they devour it?
