We found some years old food at my girlfriends house and it is Topfin Freeze Dried Medley. Its a mixture of freeze dried bloodworms and some other stuff and some tiny tiny freeze dried shrimp. The fish seemed to like it so we used it a good bit in her ten gallon. I used it about two or three times in my 5 gallon and then noticed what seemed to be planaria. I quickly stopped using it and vacuumed gravel and all. There were only a couple of the miniscule worms. So my tank is fine. But her ten gallon is loaded with them and it has only been set up for about 1 or 2 months. Gravel is clean and vacuumed, no overfeeding. Could it be possible to get planaria from the very old freeze dried food?

Not sure if it's the age of the food but if you're overfeeding that can cause the planaria to form. Cut down on feedings and keep up with water changes and clean the substrate very well to suck up the worms.
