OT for a moment... Please explain to me your method of vacuuming the substrate, b/c I have Eco-complete and every time I put the vac near it, it sucks it up into the tube!!

Yeah, I couldn't manage Eco complete. I kept making a mess of the tank. Lol. Now I use it in terracotta pots and use either sand or fine gravel as substrate. The sand I barely touch with the siphon, whereas with the gravel I shove it right in there. It's heavy enough that it only goes halfway up the tube before falling back down while the detritus get sucked up into the hose
