Primafix?

I’ve recently put another post on her regarding my sick gourami! I went to the pet store and came out with primafix

My question is, it says dose for 7 days without a water change, can I really go 7 days without a water change, the water already stinks to high heaven after 1 dose?

I've never used primafix or melafix. Heard to many stories of it not working. Maracyn 2 and Furan 2 are typically what I use for meds as last resort. You can still do frequent water changes. Just dose again with the proper amount for the water you add.

That’s all they had in the store so I didn’t have a choice.

One more question: once I’ve done the seven days, I’ll put the carbon filter back in, can I leave the carbon filter till I need to change when dirty or will I need to change sooner because of the medication? ( so leave new carbon in for a few days to clean medicine up, then put another new one in)

Just do a couple of large water changes then add your carbon filter
