my aunt's 16 gal tank has a lot of ich in it, she used ich out once and it went away and came back and now she wants to use ich out again and does she need to just take the charcoal out or the whole bag?

I"d slowly raise the temp as Rich said. To 86 F. Leave the temp up for 2 weeks after the last spot of ich is gone. Note this method doesn't work with goldfish. Meds for ich can cause problems with your bacteria. Salt can be added with certain types of fish to speed the process along. That's why Rich is asking about your tank inhabitants.

I am in agreement with both Zagz and Rich. I wouldn't use the meds, it's not needed. Just raise the temp and add salt.

I would also agree. I just finished treating using heat/salt, and it works!
