Female convict. I keep my pair of convicts at school monday i got there and the female was at the bottom of the tank VERY beat up. they have week old fry. male (who is twice her size) get very territorial and protective towards her when they have fry, but this is the first time he has beat her with in a inch of her life!!!!!

ammonia/nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
ph 8.0
temp 75 F

20 gal long set up for 9 months

cheap HOB filter from walmart

only fish in tank are convict pair and fry

did 50% water pwc about 1 week ago

had pair for 9 months this is their 5th spawning

feed the flake food and frozen vegitables

anyways i got her home and put her in my QT tank. i treated her with melafix. after 24 hours she is not laying on the bottom of that tank anymore and she is eating.

But now her wounds have a white cottony fuzz on them...

should i treat her with something different?

should i keep up the Melafix and do anything else????

thank in advance!

I've heard of that happening to convict pairs before. Sad. :(

For the cotton fuzz, I've had good luck with Quick Cure (Malachite Green and Formalin). They are generally not reccomended by many people, but I've used it to treat fungus on bettas before with no ill effects.

Good luck!
