Greetings,

I have, I believe a pregnant, female Silver Lyretail Molly with white fuzz on its tail. The fuzz is nowhere else on the fish, nor on any other of my fish in the tank, just her.

Is this ick, though it doesn't demonstrate the common look of it (i.e., white spots randomly on the entire fish) or is it a fungal infection?

Pic is included.

Thank you in advance.

Don't think it's ich because ich is really small dots, like grains of salt. Not sure what your molly has tho.

If it's fuzzy then it might be small patches of fungus. Mollies are super sensitive to water parameters. Just keep your water pristine and treat with an antifungal medication. If that doesn't work then I don't know what it is.

Many thanks for your help.

Any recommendation for a type of antifungal medication to use?

Hi... I'm sorry to post here but my silver molly has the same white spots and I couldn't find an answer anywhere. Did you figure out if those were fungus or ick? Did you use any particular medication with your molly?
Thank you and sorry again.
