My female Betta sorority tank has been set up for about a year now, with one Betta fish I have had for about a year and one that is fairly new. The Betta I have had for about a year is silver and black, when she doesn't have stripes, which is almost never. There are four guppies, two female Bettas, and two common plecos in the tank, and I am trying to figure out if she is stressed or if this is a normal reaction

Sorry for the sideways photo, she is extremely active

For female bettas, it might be a sign that she is sexually mature. I think that might be it, im not an expert on bettas but thats what it may be.

Silvercloud, I think your bettas stripes are her way of showing dominance over the other betta.
I haven't kept bettas for many years but I have seen other speicies of fish display similar behavior. Pictured are two of my female Festae cichlids housed in the same tank. The one with the stripes is the dominant female, the unstriped one is a subordinate female.
