Hello,

I'm having a huge issue with swordtails. I have 6 swordtails. 1 of them gotten beatin up. Its back fin has bites and it had a bite mark on its body. I have another swordtail laying on the bottem of the tank laying side ways. It looks like its gapping for water. (Hard time breathing?)

Males can be very tough on each other..
How many of the 6 are males and what size is the tank?
Ideally you have one male ,but it sounds different...

I have a 20 gallon tank. These are stil baby swordtails. I'm unable to tell you which are males or females.

3 have died this morning.

My male swordtails in the breeding pool no problem.

10 male swords even in my 125 gal plenty of space. They still would kill each other.

Now I have 1 male breeding sword in a 55 gal. Males seldom get along in a tank.

I don't have a problem when a female turns male.

For some reason the true male doesn't fight with the female turned male.

Ideally I'd recommend a bigger tank for a colony of swordtails, especially with more than 1 male.
As idol 1 was trying to say I believe, I have to be very careful keeping more than 1 male in my 75gallon heavily planted tank.

What are your water conditions, 3 deaths that close together is alarming. Seems like more than bullying.
