Tailless barb

A few days ago my tiger barb got part of his tail bitten off probably (my another barb). I put him in another tank to heal with Melafix and hasn't gotten any better and worse. I thought it was healing but today it doesn't really look like a tail but a stub and is breathing heavier and looks very helpless. I don't want him to suffer anymore and want to put him down. Here's a pic of his tail.

Anyone? I can't tell if he's getting better or worse.

That's. Really bad, it's into his flesh. Keep water pristine and feed good quality food, maybe some aquarium salt to help heal.

It's getting all fuzzy almost up to his first stripe. I don't know if he's getting better or worse i don't want this to carry on if he's just going to die..

I have a jewel cichlid that looked like that, and he looks to be getting better.

Just dose your meds feed High quality food and keep your water pristine and he should heal.

He goes belly up every once in a while when he tries swimming distance is that normal?

Feed shelled peas, could be a swim bladder issue.

And it could be normal because of his missing caudal fin. My jewel hasn't fine it though

It started with his tail being bitten off though. Looked 100% till then.
