Tank???

I i no this is on unhealthy fish but my tropical fish tank has some weird oil on top of the water dont no where it has come from a couple of my fish have been dieing sooo what should i do

Is the surface being broken.. try more flow at the top of the tank.. also have you tested your paramters? PH,ammonia,nitrites, and nitrates?
