So, one of the best medications I've come across for dealing with a wide array of fish maladies is Tetracycline, a cure-all for many bacteria-related issues. It's been used for years (my LFS owner says he's used it in his tanks for over thirty years). Yet now, I can't seem to find it anywhere, neither in fish stores nor online (not even Fosters and Smith). And right now I have a pair of Uarus who could really use some (Melafix is a poor substitute). So my question is this: anyone able to shed light on its sudden absence? I see through a cursory search online that it's apparently also an acne medication. Does this mean it's now considered a controlled substance or something?

It's not controlled. It's becoming less effective because of resistance.

I went shopping for antibiotics about six months ago, and everybody had it (but not the stuff I was looking for) then.
