Tiger barb

My tiger barb has a white piece hanging just below his mouth and not sure as to what I could be so I am going to ask the experts, please help I will try and take better pictures but he seems to not be photogenic

Hope I'm wrong but it looks like some type of tube worm? Some of the treatments they have out now work great and in record time. Once he is healed you might think of adding a few more Tiger Barbs as they seem much healthier in schools of 6 or more. Of course that is only in my experience but that is as an owner of Tiger Barbs for the last two decades. He appears lonely to me, but I wouldn't add anything until you get whatever that is to go away. Best of luck and hope you will share what you learn about it here.
