torn up cichlid

My convict got beat up pretty bad by a zebra cichlid. I went out and purchased a 3 gallon tank and a mini filter to make a hospital tank. I dont really want to spend money on a heater so im wondering if using a blue heat lamp will be ok for heat? will it be harmful to the fish?

I wouldnt suggest a blue heat lamp because you cannot adjust the temperature properly. Since it is only a 3gallon tank I would highly suggest just purchasing a heater I am sure you can get one for under 10dollars.

Definately get a heater, flucutating temps will not help in his healing.
