Ever seen this one. Apparently, an ant decided to go into the fish tank and a curious cichlid got bit. The ant is still attached to him and won't come off. The ant is dead. Any suggestions for getting it off?? See attached pic.

omg, that is a first for me!

I have no idea what to tell you. My first instinct would be to nest the fish and see if I could pll it off.

Anyone else have any ideas for this odd situation?

Oh there it is. Couldn't find the ant at first. Sort of funny. How long has it been. I'd give it a day or two before getting too worried. I'm guessing it will fall off on it's own. Looks like the fish is eating it.

By the way, it's the black thing under his mouth (chin area).

Anyway, it came off within the past couple of hours.

Thanks

oh good. Did he eat the ant after it came off? lol.

THe fish seems to be ok, he's swimming around normally and stuff. Either he or one of the other africans ate the ant, I don't see it anymore. I'm guessing one of the others since he is the smallest of them all.

Yeah, we get big carpenter ants around here. some can be as big as almost 3/4" of an inch in length.
