I had a school of 4 Gourami for about 2 years, last week I decided to get another, noticing that the 2 males/ 2 females, I got an extra female to even things out.
The fish I got died within 2 days, the following day lesions/ inflammation appeared on the others. I treated with Pimafix, water changed, and yet two more had died by the following day. This morning I pulled another out, and my last (oldest, and prettiest) who hadn't shown many signs up until this point, started to develop the same issue on top of his head.
The female had an extremely bloated side, and the scales seemed to be just shredding off from the inside. Red gills were also a symptom. The male developed dark red blotches, and the same scale loss, red gills.
The last male has just a few lose scales on top of the head, here are pictures.
I have no idea what this is, or how to stop it but it's very fast moving, and the other fish in the tank (a school of barbs) have shown no symptoms at all.
